What's the difference between Hormone and Factor ?

Question by Josue: What's the difference between Hormone and Factor ?
A proffesor told me like a year ago that it is about the knowledge of their gene locus or something related.... is that true? or is even close to reality? because I of course know about the known hormones of endocrine tissues but in terms of definition is that correct?

"Human growth hormone is a single protein released by the pituitary gland, and it stimulates growth of musculoskeletal tissue. This is the hormone that is absent or greatly diminished in cases of dwarfism. Growth factors are human proteins that influence DNA and stimulate the proliferation of cells and protein synthesis. They are produced locally throughout the body, and not by the pituitary gland."
