Does human growth hormone really work?

Question by Malcolm: Does human growth hormone really work?
Im 140 pounds, i want 2 gain weight, does HGM really work or is it a crock?

Best answer:

Answer by ladybugsmilez
yes it works bc ur body naturally produces it...the problem is if you take it without doctors consent you can mess up all ur other hormones as well...and really taking anything to gain weight will mess you up in some way...if you want to gain weight I suggest working out and eating a lot of protein and carbs

At what age do you consider the average human body to be fully grown?

Question by XOXOXO: At what age do you consider the average human body to be fully grown?
Fully grown as in true adulthood, grown to its maximum potential, stopped growing or very little growth

Things to consider: Brain, Bones, Height, Muscles, Weight, Immune System, Hormones, metabolism...

My guess would be around 25-30. How about we hear from a biologist?

Answer by The Blaze
Human Males usually stop developing around the age of 28, while Human Females tend to stop at 25 (in brain I'm not sure about much else for the human female)

Yes, but unless you need it.. It can do some crazy, horrid things to your face & since you don't have tall parents, I doubt they will give it to you. Small people make small people (usually).

How did giant humans interact with others?

Question by Dalton: How did giant humans interact with others?
Or did they interact and why did smaller humans out live giant humans if the giant humans were better or were they? How did they interact culturally and/or did they interact sexually at all?

Best answer:

Answer by katie
So, I may be foolish bit I'll assume that you are not a troll.

Human height is determined by things like nutrition and genetics. Even though ancient groups of humans may have had, in general, differences in their height, they were still members of the same species. Cultural differences between groups of ancient humans were probably influenced by a whole lot of different things (environment, food, resources), height might not have been that important, overall.

I haven't heard of any evidence of "giant" humans in the past. If you are referencing the stories in the bible, I'm not sure they are all backed up by scientifically valid evidence.

Human growth hormone is already being used by some athletes for size and strength gains. Do you think it is...

Question by Dude....: Human growth hormone is already being used by some athletes for size and strength gains. Do you think it is...
acceptable to use human growth hormones to make people taller?

Best answer:

Answer by secretsauce
For helping children with deficiencies in HGH ... yes.

For treating adults with deficiencies in HGH that would otherwise lead to decreased strength and bone density ... yes.

To help a high-school or college kid beef up to be a bigger linebacker ... no.

To help a professional linebacker keep up with other professionals ... no ... but for different reasons. They're adults, and can do whatever they want to with their own bodies (as long as they are informed of the risks). But (a) as a lover of sport, it is (IMO) missing the point of what sports should be about; and (b) far more importantly, professional athletes are models for aspiring college and high-school athletes.

What is contained in Human Growth Hormone?

Question by RJ: What is contained in Human Growth Hormone?
What does this supplement contain?

Best answer:

Answer by SARAH
Human growth hormone is a protein that is secreted by the anterior pituitary in short pulses, mostly during the first hours of sleep and in response to stress. It is released throughout a person's lifetime and controls the production of other hormones called growth factors, throughout the body. It particularly stimulates body growth and development in children, as well as playing an important role in child and adult metabolism, regulating the amount of muscle and fat and has effect on blood sugar levels. It also has a role in immunity and healing.

Why are all you people messed up in your concept of animal killing?

Question by Country_Cutie: Why are all you people messed up in your concept of animal killing?
It is necessary. Many people who are against hunting eat meat from stores and resturants. Most of those animals live sad lives before being slain in a factory. Hunting is humane and very necessary for animals to live. It is important. I know all of you don't want to change your opinions, but if you really think about it, humans are responsible for killing animals. We are more intelligent than them. We should take care of them and controling their population is an important part of that.
"Sport aspect"-by that you mean enjoying it? What is wrong with enjoying it? It has to be done & it might as well be done by people who enjoy it.
Wait, I like huntin. Chillax, ya'll, go yell at some vegans! I just wanted to see if ya'll agreed & apparently you do....cept for Miss Happy Bunny Lady....yeah, so, overpopulation is very bad & all that & huntin is good!

How could you test to see if a bacterium has taken in a human growth hormone plasmid?

Question by Snowandskibaby: How could you test to see if a bacterium has taken in a human growth hormone plasmid?

Best answer:

Answer by TruthHurts
hopefully your plasmid has protection against another chemical; you treat everything with this chemical and if the plasmid has resistance then everything will die except the bacteria that has taken in the HGH plasmid.

is there an age limit to taking the human growth hormone?

Question by Boogaloo: is there an age limit to taking the human growth hormone?
I'm an 18 year old girl who's about 5'3''. Is it too late to take the hormone, or could I still porssibly grow a few inches?

Best answer:

Answer by Michael
After puberty (i.e. growth plate closure) excess growth hormone causes acromegaly
So one would not grow in stature. Only body extremities such as fingers, toes and the nose would gain length.
