why is growth energy high in babies, low in other ages?

Question by Jihad: why is growth energy high in babies, low in other ages?
Why is growth energy, (the energy required to grow) high in babies, but goes to complete zero at the age of 20 in males. Discuss possible theorys as to why this is.

My answer is that HGH (Human Growth Hormone) which is produced in anterior pituitary gland is more abundant in the early stage of life as seen in the ability to "bounce back " that the young-lings tend to have.
