People stop growing at around 21 because that's the age when your growth plates close. There are heaps of things that affect your height, such as the amount of human growth hormone your body produces. Actually it's Insulin growth factor 1 is what actually makes us grow, but this is controlled by human growth hormone. So human growth hormone leads to insulin growth factor which then leads to growth.
ReplyDeleteNatural ways to grow include getting more sleep. Human growth hormone levels are at the highest around the first two hours of sleep. The longer you sleep for the taller you will grow. Weight lifting and high intensity sprinting have both been shown to significantly increase hormone levels as well. The more intense the workout, the higher the human growth hormone levels.
Milk has been shown to contain growth hormone which can increase our own hormone levels. Surprisingly calcium has no effect on height but your body needs it in order the build bones. Another way is to consume 100-500g of a vitamin called niacin on an empty stomach. This can cause a great increase on hormone levels but only if it is taken two hours after any food (optimally before bedtime). It is also believed that there is a relationship between the growth hormone and melatonin. If your body does not have the sufficient amount of melatonin then you shall have a short height. In that case taking melatonin may help you to gain a few inches.
I think it's entirely possible for you to grow taller. There is no need to fixate on it though, because you are young and still have plenty on time.
