from what i've heard on CNN, if you are willing to spend a whopping $ 200, 000 you can gain up 4 inches of height, but let me warn you, HGH therapy is very risky, you can suffer some adverse side effects from it, so I advise you do natural things like take multi vitamins, eat right, exercise, and get good sleep if you want to grow taller..a few months ago, I was considering taking HGH myself, but realised that natural is the way to go

You didn't state why you are taking it...hyperthyroidism is not related. If you are taking it for its intended purpose, growth hormone deficiency and the dose is not too high you should have no side effects. If you are taking it and don't have GH deficiency it can have adverse affects on your health. Also, GH is not new, its been around for many years.

I am a 21 year old who has been taking thyroid pills for about 3 1/2 years now (I have hypothyroidism). I haven't grown taller since I started taking the pills. I'm still 4'11".

I heard recently that taking growth hormones would help people who have an under active thyroid to increase their height. At 21, do you think it would have any effect on me if I took those growth hormones - or do you think it's too late for me?

The only way you would truly know if you were going to grow is to go to your doctor to get a xray of your bones to see if your growth plates have closed or not.

The release of this hormone is a natural body function and doesn't lend its self to regulation, obviously a healthy diet is beneficial for all kinds of reasons but no one can say eat this and you shall produce less / more growth hormone.

I'm assuming by the question that you feel the need to influence this and normally people who feel this need do so because they are not happy with the way their body is developing or rather not developing.

You give no indication of your age, developmental status, sex or anything so answering in a meaningful way is virtually impossible.

All I can say is that if you are in your late teens and haven't started puberty yet, your doctor can give you a shot to kick start it.

you're only 17! all you're gonna do is shrink your testicles and not allow your body to develop naturally. i've known a lot of small/skinny guys who shot up and bulked out with proper exercise after they graduated high school.

I am 16 and over the past five years I underwent treatment of a faulty (for lack of a better word) pituitary gland via Human Growth Hormone shots once every night. As the hormone has worked and I am of average height now, I was taken off if the beginning of this school year. Whilst I was on the Growth Hormone my grades were low. I had probably a 2.3-2.5 GPA. Since the beginning of this school year (with me being off the growth hormone) my GPA jumped massively to 3.4. A .9 GPA raise does not happen over night naturally. Neither my work ethics nor my eating habits have changed at all. I went from a 68 average in math to a 90 average.

I also notice that I have started to develop more of an interest in science, like before I started the treatment. Could there be any correlation between Human Growth Hormone and learning ability? Is this just coincidence? I haven't been able to find any research on line but if anyone has any answers they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I did a quick search for you on www.pubmed.com (This is the website that searches all scientific articles published to date.. since you are interested in science, you can start to use it too).

There are no reported cases of people "loosing" intelligence due to treatment. If anything, the growth hormone seems to have beneficial effects on the brain. Remember that you were given the treatment because you needed it. Growth hormone is involved in many many things in your body, not just to make your bones grow.. Now, at the age of 16, and after having the treatment, your body no longer needs the hormone... So you can think of yourself as cured from disease now. Naturally, healthy people perform better..

Perhaps you don't know, but the famous football player, Messi, also had your condition and had treatment for it.. He was already a good player, but he performed better once the treatment was over..

I have been yelled at everyday since the 7th grade. there has not been 1 day that i have not been yelled at. this has negatively affected me. From being stressed to even not growing! If you guy's didn't know, stress produces cortisol which hinders other hormones...including human growth hormones needed for growth. my approximate estimate for my height under the growth charts was 5'11 - 6 foot! now being short also stresses me out! all this is due to my parents yelling and i cannot take it anymore. sometimes i feel like smashing things, but i must refrain. please help me.

best bet is doctor my friend has been taking hgh and has only grown about 2 inches plus if you are fully matured you wont grow taller since your growth plates will have closed

Effects of growth hormone on the tissues of the body can generally be described as anabolic (building up). Like most other protein hormones, GH acts by interacting with a specific receptor on the surface of cells. Among other things, it:

Increases calcium retention, and strengthens and increases the mineralization of bone.
Increases muscle mass through sarcomere hyperplasia.

In its role as an anabolic agent, HGH has been used by competitors in sports since the 1970s, and it has been banned by the IOC and NCAA. Traditional urine analysis could not detect doping with HGH, so the ban was unenforceable until the early 2000s when blood tests that could distinguish between natural and artificial hGH were starting to be developed.

You can only get legal, bona fide HGH with a DR. 's prescription. That junk they sell on the net is just that-junk. If you buy it on the black market, you don't know what you're getting, and are taking a big risk with your health. Even if you get it through a Dr., it's very expensive. and, if you could afford it, only take it under a DR. 's supervision.
