Dwarfism runs in my family and i'm 20 weeks pregnant?

Question by You owe me money!: Dwarfism runs in my family and i'm 20 weeks pregnant?
My husband is normal size but I'm worried about passing my genes on to my baby. Doctors will not suggest anything that's not FDA approved but I've heard that there is evidence to prove that HGH (Human Growth Hormone) if taken while pregnant can reduce the risk of dwarfism in the baby. Since my husband takes HGH for performance enhancement I've been tempted to take it as well. Any thoughts?

I would be really cautious , If the baby is small will you love it less?

  2. First of all why would you endanger your own baby and yourself by taking human growth hormones?and so what if your baby is a dwarf it's still your child you should love it no matter what.

  3. So dwarfism is genetic and taking human growth hormone could potentially affect the child's heart and lungs as well. Usually dwarfism is a dominant trait and if you do not have dwarfism then you have most likely 2 alleles for recessive. This means you won't pass it down.

  4. I wouldn't risk it personally. I am guessing you have dwarfism?? And your going to be a mummy and your married :) !! so hun i wouldn't worry at all. Dwarfism or not your still a human being and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't stress! I know its not the same thing but i know a man that has down syndrome and so does his wife. They had 6 healthy kids that didn't have down syndrome at all. They were actually very smart. (not saying downsyndrome kids aren't smart, they are beautiful bright children)

But it doesn't matter either way but they would be able to tell you at 20 weeks if the baby wasn't measuring properly, etc. I wouldn't be taking anything that the drs don't recommend. It could do more harm than good.

Wishing you luck with your pregnancy but please don't do anything stupid. xx

  5. IF your baby has dwarfism then NOTHING you do now will change that, you are 20 weeks gone so IF the baby is a dwarf that's already decided. almost all HGH that people take for performance enhancement is FAKE, most are tablet or powder form and they simply do not work even if they are "the real thing" which is unlikely. HGH to work is given by injection. A scan can measure your babies limbs and give a clue to if your baby is affected or not
