Is it theoretically possible to develop a human-animal hybrid?

Question by UM: Is it theoretically possible to develop a human-animal hybrid?
I am talking hypothetically.

Is it theoretically, thus scientifically, possible, to splice and combine human and animal genomic codes to produce a hybrid?

I am not looking for ethical considerations of the act, I simply want to know if it is possible.

I'm sure it is possible (or will be soon) Because the genetic cells are very close together for animals like Apes and Gorillas. I am interested in this subject also. Good Luck.

My guess is no as your long bones have probably grown together by now and when that happens increases in height is stopped.

But then again I am not an endocrinologist, maybe you are different, but I would not wait long to see one as time is ticking.

Is it possible ill grow any taller?

Question by Jeremy: Is it possible ill grow any taller?
I'm currently 5'6 well taller than my parents now, but alot of my uncles and cousins are way taller. I'm 22 years old, so am I done growing? Would it be a bad idea go on those human growth hormone Thingamajigs?

Best answer:

Answer by Bilbo
You are usually done growing by about 21, so going on being taller than your parents, I would think that's it.

After that you start shrinking imperceptibly as your posture changes and gravity kicks in. Forget the hormone things they won't help and could give you nasty side effects.

Is breast enlargement by hormonal methods possible?

Question by : Is breast enlargement by hormonal methods possible?
So that's a silly question. As everybody knows, athletes use steroids, human growth hormone, and a lot of other drugs to enlarge their muscles. On the other hand breast enlargement uses surgical implant. Surgically enhanced breasts don't really look like natural breasts.

So I've been wondering - is there some very deep reason why cannot we use similar hormonal techniques to enlarge breasts?

Is there a fundamental reason to it, or is it possible just not widely performed for practical reasons?

This is pure curiosity, I'm not planning a boob job.

Breasts are fatty tissue.
Larger women have larger breasts.
I am 5'7" and 115 lbs at 21 and am a B cup.
My friend is 5'7" and 140 lbs at 21 and a D cup.
If you want to have larger breasts, weight gain is the best option; however, there are obvious downsides to weight gain as well.
Other parts of you may not look as fit even though you will have larger breasts.

Is it possible for hair to grow from shoulder length to hip length over the course of nine months to a year?

Question by Josée Peck: Is it possible for hair to grow from shoulder length to hip length over the course of nine months to a year?
I'm writing a story about a girl who's lost her memory and wakes up in the hospital a year or so after what she remembers. I'm asking if it's possible for her hair to grow this much in this time? And if not, is there some hair growth hormone or something? She was kidnapped and her captor likes long hair.

Best answer:

Answer by Dresden Rose
Not possible. Human hair grows at a rate of 1/4th an inch each month. Growth is slightly faster during winter, slightly slower during summer.

Is it possible for an adult to gain height using HGH?

Question by Balla1: Is it possible for an adult to gain height using HGH?
Is it possible to gain height by using human growth hormone at ages 23-25? or is that too late?

Best answer:

Answer by lv_consultant
nope, the growth plates fuse during the final stages of puberty. HGH is expensive it would run a good $ 1,500-2,000 a month to use dosages high enough to cause skeletal growth

Is it possible to promote a growth spurt?

Question by Nate: Is it possible to promote a growth spurt?
Just wondering. I know you grow until your early 20s, and I'm only 17, but I was wondering if you could do something to help increase growth in your late teens.

Best answer:

Answer by Lucien B
It is possible, but it's a little late for you to attempt it now. HGH has been mildly effective when use prior to late adolescence. Check with your doctor, but don't expect too much support.

is it possible for a fully grown person to continue growing with the use of drugs?

Question by irishboyo: is it possible for a fully grown person to continue growing with the use of drugs?
The tallest man ever recorded, Robert Wadlow, reached an unprecedented 8 feet 11.09 inches (2.72 m) in height and weighed 440 pounds at his death. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death. Do you think this could be induced artificially?

Best answer:

Answer by spaceranger85
Doesn't the term fully grown imply that you cannot grow anymore?

Would it be possible to genetically engineer giant humans?

Question by Steve: Would it be possible to genetically engineer giant humans?
Most of the world's tallest humans have been found to have achieved their height due to hypertrophy of the pituitary gland, resulting in an abnormally large amount of human growth hormone being supplied to their body.

Since we know what causes great size in humans, would it be possible to scientifically recreate this process, to create taller, stronger humans? Either by intentionally hypertrophing (if that is a word) the pituitary gland, or simply by injecting human growth hormone into the human at a rate comparable to a hypertrophic pituitary gland. What do you think?

Best answer:

Answer by Lukas Xavier
There'd be built-in limits. Simply "stretching" a human being would result in issues with the back, as you often see in very tall people. In extreme cases, you might also get balance problems. The taller you are, the more stability problems you'd have.

If you made people bigger overall, you'd have to rework the proportions, or the bones wouldn't be strong enough to hold. E.g. if you double the size of a human, you double the thickness of the bones, but you quadruple the weight. Eventually, the bones would simply break the moment you stand up.
To make that work, you'd have to change the proportions to make stronger legs and smaller upper body. They wouldn't look human anymore.

A limited amount of tinkering might well be possible, but not to the point of making actual giants.

How can I grow as tall as possible?

Question by : How can I grow as tall as possible?
I am about 20.5 years old, approx. 6 feet, 5.75 in. tall, 175 lbs.

How can I maximize my body's natural growth? I've always heard that men don't stop growing until their early of mid twenties. Is there any way (i.e. diet, stretches, etc.) that I can maximize my body's natural growth? Or stimulate my body to begin a growth spurt?

Please keep in mind that I am NOT interested in products like human growth hormones or steroids.
