  1. It's mainly about mass production [you can produce a pretty large amount] with less costs than other methods.

  2. The simplest and most studied organism for this is E.Coli. And you have two options one is to produce it intracellular as Inclusion bodies (IBs) and other is to produce it in periplasm. If it is produced in IBs then growth hormone produced has a n-terminal methionine and is reported to have immunogenicity when injected to humans. If it is produced in periplasm (using a signal peptide to transport it to periplasmic place) then you don't have this problem but you have a limitation on amount produced. I would prefer the first method (IB) if the product is not meant for human use.
