What food would help increase growth hormone in children?

Question by gloriaq: What food would help increase growth hormone in children?
my child had cancer in his sinus cavity at 13 months old. he went through chemo, surgery and proton radiation (in his cranial area). He is now 3 1/2 years old. It looks like his IGF1 is low. The range is 54-178 and his is 35. He has grown 2.1 cm in the past 6 months. We are looking for alternatives to growth hormone shots. And looking into nutrition for possible help

  1. Foods that stimulte production of HGH, or human growth hormone are nuts, legumes, whole grains and beans. Foods to avoid, foods that inhibit the production of HGH are foods rich in simple carbohydrates ike pasta and potatoes.

There are other natural ways to stimulate HGH production as well. Exercise is important. Do not eat anything for two hours prior to exercising for best results.

Sleep, especially REM (rapid eye movement) sleep is vitally important for production of HGH as well. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. At his age, twelve to thirteen hours a day is about right.

Ask your doctor about an endogenous hypothalamic peptide--ghrelin--for stimulating HGH production as well. Current research points toward positve outcomes when this peptide is added to the diet.

God bless your son, and God bless you for your efforts. Don't forget that a person's true stature has nothing to do with meters, centimeters or millimeters, that short people can excel in life too.
