If U purchase an ex race horse for horse jumping, do U still need to give the horse growth hormones?

Question by Jorge: If U purchase an ex race horse for horse jumping, do U still need to give the horse growth hormones?
I heard that if humans use steroids, their body will become dependent on PED Growth hormones to perform, ever again. Cuz if you stop using steroids, you'll get super weak super fast - the reverse effect.
Do retired thoroughbreds continue to need steroids to be in the horse jumping competitions? Or can you run them dry?

The vast majority of racehorses are run without the use of steroids. And many jurisdictions are eliminating their use entirely.

All horses who HAVE been on steroid treatment attempting to improve performance will eventually come off of the drugs, and be able to compete without issue WITHOUT the drugs of choice of their piss-poor prior trainers.
