What's the difference between HGH (Human Growth Hormone) & Cortisone baseball players used. Are they both illegal?
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM? That's my main question. Which is used for what?

Cortisone is not illegal in sports. HGH is.

ReplyDeletecortisone is not illegal and is much easier to test for and get. HGH up in till 2005 wasn't banned fomr baseball. since then though it has been banned, but there is still no known test for HGH
ReplyDeletecortisone is not illegal ,its a shot that numbs the nerves in ligaments ,so players cant play thru pain,,,hgh does have some medical reasons and people do use it to heal quicker ,but most use it like a steriod because its undetectable but very dangerous if used over a long period of time
ReplyDeleteBoth HGH and Cortisone are legal with a prescription. Both are natural hormones made by the human body, though they can also be artificially synthesized. Athletes are often permitted to use cortisone, because cortisone isn't really performance-enhancing. Athletes are sometimes permitted to use HGH, usually in the case that they are still quite young (less than 20) and they would naturally be unusually short without using supplemental HGH. The only case like this I can think of off the top of my head is the Argentinian soccer player Lionel Messi, who is 18, and is legally receiving supplemental HGH so he reaches a normal height.

It is a non-performance-enhancing steroid which acts primarily locally (it doesn't have much effect on the whole body, just in the area where it is injected). Cortisone suppresses the body's pain response in the injured area, allowing players to play through pain.
HGH is a very important hormone which has effects on your entire body. The amount of HGH in your body is the biggest factor determining how tall you will grow. HGH prompts bone growth and many other effects throughout the entire body. HGH is legal with a prescription, like cortisone, but because HGH is a much more powerful natural hormone, the potential for HGH abuse and illegal use is much greater than that for cortisone.
